Safe Church

It is the mission of Hope UCC Fremont, WI, to love, to care for, to protect and provide places of justice and hospitality for all persons, especially children.  We provide programs of worship, study, and service that are safe and secure in the community of faith.  Because of that, we have developed and implemented the following safety guidelines:

  1. Every adult (18 and older) who works with children and adolescents at Hope UCC in any way will be subjected to a background check and must complete both a disclosure form and a Safe Conduct Volunteer screening form.  Volunteers under 18 will be subject to reference checks, school and/or work-related, and will need 2 years of experience with working with children and youth, and will need a parent/guardian signature to volunteer.
  2. Any member or non-member volunteer must attend this church on a regular basis and be known to the staff members.
  3. Adult leaders are expected to set boundaries and should not participate or encourage rough physical contact or other questionable activities.  Drugs, tobacco, or alcohol is strictly prohibited at all church-related activities.
  4. An adult will be present in the Fellowship Hall Christian education classrooms to provide assistance to the leaders/teachers and to serve as a second adult supervisor on Sunday mornings and during Confirmation class periods.
  5. All gatherings involving youth, including but not limited to youth events, overnight events, retreats, etc., must have a minimum of two (2) non-related adults present who are gender representative of the group.
  6. All staff & adults transporting youth must submit a valid drivers license and current certificate of insurance for the vehicle being used to transport the youth.  Staff/adult leaders are prohibited from transporting youth without parental consent.
  7. These Safe Conduct Guidelines also apply to church-related gatherings held off site from Hope UCC.
